Everything is awareness, from the smallest conceivable particle to the totality of all that is – The ALL. This awareness is Divine. For the Divine is Pure Awareness. The Universe is the Divine Dream becoming aware of Itself. In the human being, this awareness has various levels in terms of mind. There is no 'unconscious mind' because such a concept has to be an error when all is awareness. So the Sub-Conscious Mind lies beneath the Ordinary (or Lower Mind) Consciousness and influences it. The Super-Conscious is above the Lower Conscious but is not directly accessible by it. This is also the Higher Self. There is a consciousness above the Super-Conscious. This is the Divine Conscious Mind (nous) and is immortal. This is of incredible importance as an idea, as it establishes the immortality of each human being, in essence. There is nothing humans have to do to become immortal. They are immortal, and death is quite literally an illusion. This view is found in part in many 'models', like the Buddhist or Trans-Personal Psychology. As human beings we cannot access our sub-conscious or super-conscious directly. We do so through what has been referred to as the Intra-Conscious. In other words our access to these 'higher' and 'lower' worlds is mediated. We experience them in our everyday consciousness, through feelings, emotions, images, imaginings and - for the higher aspects - the silent voice within. This Intra-conscious, in this writer's view, is the way Higher Intuition works. The Divine Conscious Mind is only accessible through the Super-Conscious or Higher Self. When we die, we are in our Lower Mind (our Ordinary Consciousness). We ascend consciously, through the tunnel that is described in Near Death Experiences, to our Super-Conscious Mind. If we do not make that journey, we are, for a time at least, caught in this lower dream - and we have a half-life as a ghost.
Where the model (for of course it can only be a model) becomes of great interest is with regard to memory. All memory is associated with a physical state (in the Lower Conscious Mind), and with emotion. The memory of the Lower Consciousness is highly malleable. It can be altered - and is altered - leaving us with 'false memories' or partial memories of events and their significance. The memory of the Super-conscious is much broader. The perspective is more full. It has the greater picture. But it is also subject to change. So even our 'higher memories' may not be exactly right. Our Higher Mind can leave the limits of our body, but has to learn to do so, thinking that it cannot. The true memory, of all we experience is held, pristine and perfect, by the Divine Mind, individualised in our immortal nature. It is at this level of our Spiritual Mind, that the will of the Divine (our will in accord with Universal Will) is known. We have to 'hear' that through the agency of our Super-conscious and Intra-conscious. And that is a challenge for all of us.
