Fake News and the Alt Media

We have heard recently a lot about Fake News. Hillary Clinton, speaking for the first time since aknowledging Trump had beaten her, suggested that such fake stories, on right wing Internet sourced sites, had defeated her.
In another blog at another time we will look at the role of Operation Mockingbird (used by the CIA) to place assets at senior positions in key media in the USA to ensure certains stories were covered in certain ways. Suffice to say here there is a litany of examples where the Main Stream Media ahve presented erroneous stories as 'truth'.
The example of the Anthrax threat presnted at the UN, and the 45 Minute nuclear holocaust threat put through loudspeakers by the UK tabloid press, allowed the UK and the USA to go to war with Iraq based on what is now quite clear was lies and deception.
With the Fourth Estate failing in its democratic duty so spectacularly, it is not surprising that the gap has been filled with enterprising journalists. Some, like Max Keiser with his quirky investigation of all things economic, have huge followings (on air he said 22 million views) which far exceed NBC, ABC and similar.
